Compressible Flow

The third year undergraduate course 'Waves and Compressible Flow' lays the foundation for the study of the flow of gases and it has led to a book of the same name by J.R. Ockendon and H. Ockendon.

• turbulent compressible flow in pipes
• shock waves in the atmosphere:
  • long range propagation (see also Sonic Boom)
  • destinctive interference near aircraft
• contact discontinuities
