Applications of financial methodology

The methodology of finance is used in many areas ranging from the traditional one of investment banking to, for example, planning of projects involving strategic decisions, where the option to take a course of action has a value (this is known as real option theory). For example, we may want to value a power plant or gas storage facility, or even calculate the optimum time to divorce.
