OCIAM, the Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics is a research centre within the Mathematical Institute of Oxford University. At OCIAM our aim is to pursue collaborative research with industry and other disciplines as well as basic research in applied mathematics. Our work leads to high quality research with a practical basis. At present the centre consists of 16 faculty, 8 postdocs/research fellows, 25 D.Phil students and 24 M.Sc. students. Ongoing fields of research include Biological, Enviromental, Industrial and Medical Applications, Financial Modelling, General Methodologies, Materials Science & Theoretical Mechanics. Oxford loses the 14th Oxford/Cambridge Applied Mathematics Meeting. OCIAM student A. Stewart wins the QJMAM prize for a postgraduate student talk at the BAMC 2009. 2nd annual Oxford SIAM student chapter conference held on 3rd February 2009. The Alan Tayler Lecture held on 24 November 2008. Les Woods commemorative workshop held on 22 September 2008. KAUST Global Research Partnership grant awarded to OCCAM.
